SpaceX-Backed Startup Gathers 2,850 Preorders For $300,000 Flying Car

Alef Aeronautics, a startup based in Silicon Valley and supported by Elon Musk's SpaceX, is making impressive progress in the flying car industry. Their latest offering, the Model A, is a two-seater vehicle priced at $300,000. Since its reservation availability in October 2022, the company has received a remarkable amount of interest, with over 2,850 preorders. To secure a reservation, potential buyers only need to pay a deposit of $150, and if they pay $1,500, they will receive priority in the delivery queue.

The Model A is an all-electric flying car with a driving range of 200 miles and a flight range of approximately 110 miles. Alef Aeronautics envisions it as a versatile vehicle that can operate both on the road and take off vertically when required, allowing passengers to navigate the skies and avoid traffic. Achieving approval for test flights from the Federal Aviation Administration in July was a significant milestone for the Model A.

According to CEO and co-founder Jim Dukhovny, deliveries for the Model A are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025. As of July, the startup has already accumulated $250 million in preorders. If all the reservations materialize, Alef Aeronautics stands to generate over $850 million in sales.

For individuals interested in a more affordable option, Alef Aeronautics is also developing the Model Z, a four-seater sedan priced at $35,000. The anticipated release date for the Model Z is 2035.

This ambitious venture into the flying car industry by Alef Aeronautics has the potential to revolutionize our daily commute. Just imagine being able to soar over traffic congestion!
