Android Gets AirTag-Style Trackers
Google has finally launched its very own AirTag-style trackers for Android phones on their Find My Device network. This is a highly anticipated feature that will help users locate their lost items. Chipolo and Pebblebee have come out with tag and card-shaped trackers that utilize the network's Bluetooth proximity data from Android devices all around the world. With the Find My Device app, users can easily track their belongings on a map and even activate sounds or LED flashes if they're nearby.
Chipolo offers two types of trackers, the One Point tracker for keys priced at $28 and the Card Point tracker for $35. Both of these are splashproof and connect seamlessly to Android phones through Fast Pair. The first batch of Chipolo trackers have already sold out, but you can expect the next batch to be available on June 10. On the other hand, Pebblebee offers three options: the Clip for keys priced at $30, the Card for wallets also priced at $30, and the Tag, which has a rechargeable battery that lasts up to eight months, priced at $35. These trackers are currently available for pre-order.
These trackers are just the beginning of the devices that will be compatible with the Find My Device network. Other devices like Eufy Smart Track Link, Smart Tag Card, Sony headphones, and JBL headphones are also expected to receive support. However, it's interesting to note that Tile, a trailblazer in smartphone-based trackers, has decided not to make trackers for this network. Instead, they are focusing on broader location-based solutions.
Privacy concerns have been taken into account with unwanted tracking alerts on both Android and iOS devices to prevent any potential misuse. As the Find My Device network expands, Android users can look forward to a wider range of tracker options, ensuring that they can effortlessly keep track of their belongings.
