Motorola is fixing its software update problem

Motorola is catching up to Samsung and Google in updates.

A new Motorola phone will have five years of updates.

This is the second Motorola phone in two months with this feature.

The Motorola Moto G75 will have five OS upgrades.

It will also receive six years of security patches.

Users can update the Moto G75 to at least Android 19.

The phone ships with Android 14 pre-installed.

Last month, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo had the same update promise.

Five years is less than Samsung's and Google's seven years.

However, it is a big increase from Motorola's previous offerings.

Motorola confirms this on the Moto G75 product page.

They state, "Five OS upgrades and six years of security updates."

The Moto G75 is a mid-range phone with strong features.

It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset.

The display is a 6.78-inch Full HD+ LCD with 120Hz refresh rate.

It supports expandable storage up to 1TB via a microSD card.

The phone has a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS.

It also features Quad Pixel technology.

The battery is a 5,000mAh unit with 30W wired charging.

It supports 15W wireless charging as well.

The Moto G75 comes in three colors: Charcoal Grey, Aqua Blue, Succulent Green.

The Charcoal Grey model has a matte-finished back.

The Aqua Blue and Succulent Green models have vegan leather backs.

Though affordable, the update policy is the main attraction.

Motorola has a weak history with software updates.

This new promise is a positive shift for the company.

It's uncertain if Motorola will keep this promise.

However, it's a step in the right direction.

Pricing and availability for the Moto G75 are not yet announced.
