Sony’s New NFL Coach’s Headset: What We Know So Far
The company Sony is the NFL league’s official technology partner so they made a headset designed specifically for NFL coaches. They say they hope to have this new headset ready by 2025 NFL season. The headset has Sony’s name on it and also includes active noise cancellation, a feature Sony is famous for. That means coaches should be able to hear important calls and conversations even when they’re surrounded by stadium noise.
These headsets will link up with Verizon’s 5G network, which is another major partner of the NFL. It’s not yet clear if the headset will also support other ways of connecting. There is also a large boom microphone on the headset which should help coaches communicate clearly, even on crowdy and noisy places. With active noise cancellation, high-quality microphones, and 5G connectivity, it sounds like a great peace of equipment.
Sony’s partnership with the NFL has also grown in other areas. They cooperate on replay solutions, stadium camera placements, and possibly even expansions of Hawkeye into more venues. Sony’s Beyond Sports technology also helped create a recent “Simpsons football” live-stream on Disney Plus and ESPN Plus. That broadcast can track players with special field sensors and multiple cameras in real time. This system is often used to review plays or give fans more interesting camera angles.
