At CES 2025 Lenovo and Acer showed off two new products
Two big companies, Lenovo and Acer, presented two new portable gaming PCs at Consumer Electronics Show 2025 which got a lot of attention. Lenovo’s Legion Go S and Acer’s Nitro Blaze 11. But, everyone has been waiting for something similar from Razer, but it did not happen.
In area of PC gaming, Razer recently came out with the Edge, which is a handheld device sporting a fancy AMOLED screen and Razer’s typical high-end feel. But it runs on Android, so it’s basically an enhanced version of tablet for mobile games, rather than something that can run a full-on Windows or SteamOS setup.
Razer usually makes gear that’s expensive but feels premium, like their Blade laptops and various gaming keyboards. So we are thinking a Windows-based handheld from Razer would probably be pretty nice in terms of design and overall polish. After Lenovo and Acer revealed their devices, we reached out to Razer for a comment. They said they don’t have any current plans to create a handheld PC. The closest thing they offer is a Remote Play feature in the Razer Nexus app, which lets you stream games from your PC to your phone. That’s handy, but it’s not the same as a self-contained gaming device.
Still, handheld gaming PCs are on the rise. A lot of gamers like the idea of playing their favorite PC titles in a portable way. Considering that Razer often experiments with new tech, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they jump into this scene at some point.
